So I just got back from the gym, where I did three unassisted pull-ups.

That is three more than I've ever done in 46.5 years.

I went back a few minutes later and did three more, just to see if that would happen. It happened.

10 by my birthday in June. Well on my way to being a bad-ass old lady!

I've been in physical therapy for the past two months or so and I've finally graduated with the clearance to do more exercises as long as I build up to them slowly. But that's not the exciting part.

The exciting part is that today I switched from doing wall push-ups (or push-ups against a table) to doing push-ups on the floor on my knees. I managed seven (7!), so I did the rest of my usual set using the wall.

This is especially exciting because I couldn't have done that before physical therapy, either. The injury is not a weight-lifting one, more of a chronic pain type thing that has pushed me into doing strength training. (One of its few benefits, I suppose.)

I'm also excited that at least right now my pecs aren't sore, because when I started doing push-ups on the wall I realllly felt it in my pecs. So that means that they have come a long way! (I am feeling my traps, though, but I think that was from some of the other exercises I was doing.)

I'm hoping that soon I'll be able to *gradually* work my way up from the pink and purple rehab weights to some of the bigger ones that aren't coated in plastic. I am going to do it slowly, though, so I don't end up back in physical therapy.
