Weekly post: What did you do?

You know the drill! And wish me luck: I hope to get clearance at my Monday appointment to resume my own work.

Worked out twice. Shoulder still spangy, dammit, so I couldn't do dips or flys. Maintained existing weight on everything else. Vaguely cranky to have lost momentum.

Good luck at the doctor, Lucy! Hope you can work out soon.

Best of luck on Monday - I'll be keeping fingers crossed for you!

I'm taking this week off, as I'm on vacation. I did, however help lift a broken lawnmower into the back of a Jeep, and may very well go kayaking at some point.

Good luck!

This week: Crossfit (ahahaha 1/2 of a workout kicked my butt), Tabata sprints (omg rydra_wong these are insane) and stairs. Not much rock climbing, sadly.

I knooooow. I wanna do some more (as soon as the weather stops being stupidly hot).

Btw, you may have already solved this problem, but I discovered that to help with timing yourself, there are various free Tabata mp3s floating around on the intrawebs.

I've got one that alternates 20 seconds music (frenetic techno), 10 seconds silence, etc., until you are dead finished.

Oh man I didn't even think of that - I've been doing them with a stopwatch in hand. I gotta check those out, thanks!

Ah, located:

This is the one I've been using, but Googling "tabata mp3" will find you lots more (using various strategies -- some have a tone cue over continuous music for start/stop, etc.). It's also apparently pretty easy to mix your own in Audacity.

This week, I have been mostly ... [/Fast Show]:

Doing a bit of fooling around with different bodyweight or lightly-weighted squat variations: trying plie squats, goblet squats, lateral squats, and establishing that I am nowhere near flexible enough for a Cossack squat. And doing a lot of squatting in malasana trying to open out my hips. I have not figured out what's going on (or not) in my hips when I squat.

But I've found that I can use my cheapo TRX knock-off system to do very-very-assisted pistols, so w00t.

Ironically, it was only while writing this comment that I found this video, which may be my happy place for a while:

18 Bodyweight Squat Variations

Mostly, though, there's been a lot of lying around whimpering and sitting in cold baths on the days when it's too hot to move. This has not been an intense week.

Nothing. It's too hot. When I'm not at work I'm on the sofa imitating a vegetable.
