Finally started NRoLfW Stage 4

Took me long enough, with my vacation, the sniffles, and the return of the sniffles. But: Today I finally started!

With frustrating low weights, and didn't manage to do three sets of the second half, and let's not talk about the planks... but it's started, at least.

Yay, starting!

and let's not talk about the planks...

If you don't mind talking about the planks a little bit, the New Rules of Lifting for Abs moves planks to the beginning of the workouts there -- they seem to think this improves things, so it might be worth trying here too.

The other thing I like about NRoLfA is that it also thinks that doing planks for a long time is boring, so suggests doing harder versions of planks instead of building up your time. So once you can do 60-90 seconds of any plank, you up the difficultly level and work your way up again. (In fact, there are some planks where you're doing them with an arm raised or something and only do those for 10-15 seconds before switching to raising the other arm.) So it feels like you're doing less waiting that it does if you're watching the clock for the whole minute/two minutes. I always opted for playing a song of the correct length so I didn't have to pay attention to the time-- when the song ended, I could stop doing the plank. That helped too.
