I have finally got so far that I can add weight to my negative chin-ups. So I had to use that belt thing. Which is very simply constructed, but it is not intuitively clear what goes where. (Especially as it does not close as such, it is held close by the attached weight, as I found out.)

Fortunately I was there with a friend, who is not shy and fetched one of the staff to ask. Unfortunatly, staff gal had no idea either, except "Hm, not sure. But this might be too big for you?" "Might be. Do you have a shorter one?" "Uh, no."

However, I figured it out in the end, thanks to friction the belt stayed up, and I could do my negative chin-ups with a 2.5 kg weight plate. (I was surprised how much difference that makes!) But I can hardly be the smallest woman at the gym. Heck, some of the guys might be smaller than I. What about having a shorter belt lying around? Just, you know, in case? It's not as if the place is inexpensive.
