How to frighten people with your protein shake
I've been enjoying the boggled looks at the climbing wall for a while, but last week someone finally plucked up the courage and asked me why my protein shake is a delicate, luminous shade of green.
Let me explain.
I tend to have a hard time getting enough protein, so when I climb I take a protein shake with me (as dry powder in one of those shaker bottles, so I can just add tap water).
The shake is basically plain whey powder (of a brand which I find fairly palatable and which doesn't form those godawful lumps).
With a quarter-teaspoonful of matcha added.
So it is pleasantly tea-flavoured, caffeinated, and it disturbs onlookers. I am very proud of this recipe.

I've been experimenting with adding a pinch of ginger powder as well as the matcha, which is fairly nice; cinnamon is another option I want to play with.
If I could come up with a way to make it jasmine-tea-flavoured, my joy would know no bounds, but I haven't yet worked out how to get the jasmine taste without hot water ...
