Why, I have just the icon for this
Relevant to many people's interests:
Allyson of BodyTribe has written a very detailed article on "How Women CAN Do Pull Ups" (brief mention of fat loss, no other diet stuff)
It covers the usual suspects -- lat pulls and the various ways of doing assisted pull-ups -- but with particularly good and detailed info on technique and form, and how to take these ideas and turn them into a concrete training plan. And it actually talks about the psychological and physical experience of working towards your first pull-up.

I hadn't really considered pull ups as a one-rep max, but of course it is if you can't do any yet. That changes a lot about how I think of them.

And it occurs to me that it explains one reason why it's such a powerful exercise to work on -- I think we often don't have chances to learn how to/aren't encouraged to explore exerting force at that 9 or 10/10 level of intensity.
I also like the fact that she starts at the '"can you grip the bar and hang from it?" stage, and accepts that for some people that's going to be a major step and take work.
