NRoLfW: Giving up (behind the finish line)
Stage 7 just did not work for me. First, I could not do it. Even with the plastic coated pink weights, even with bodyweight only, four sets of twenty were beyond me. So I did three, and suffered from sore muscles to the degree that I could hardly get out of my chair in the office. Going back to the gym while it lasted was not an option -- there are states in which one should not lift heavy things, and that was one. And it never got better. With the other workouts, there was some soreness after the first two workouts, for a day or two. This stage 7 one lasted for four days. Which meant, with my packed schedule, I could not go to the gym more than once a week. Which led to month-long breaks, which again led to things never getting better.
After doing stage 7 for the first time, I was so unhappy that I did it a second time. It still did not work.
I won't even post final weights, because it did not seem to make much difference if I used 10 kilos or 2 kilos on some exercise -- I still could not do all the reps. And the heavy lifts in the beginning of each workout never got anywhere because I went to the gym too rarely.
I didn't dislike the workouts, actually. There were no exercises I disliked or that I couldn't do, or that bored me.
Still. Didn't go anywhere. I stopped it now with the last workout of the whole book still undone.
I've started NRoLfA now, because basically I like those types of workouts. I can follow them when I'm brain-dead from work, and they have weird things, and a lot of different ones at that.
And in two weeks time I will be moving, and there will be a great lot of heavy things to lift. Better get my back in shape quickly.
