woodchoppers

Can someone give me some tips on doing woodchoppers right? I've tried them with the cable machine and with a kettlebell, and I'm just not sure I'm getting the hang of them. And I can't even figure out what exactly to ask. So, any pointers whatsoever would be greatly appreciated.

In other news, I completely killed my legs this morning. Tomorrow is going to be No Fun At All.

I cannot answer, but I have a specific question to ask: When doing woodchops on a cable machine, do I keep my hands at same distance from my body all the time (i.e, keep arms stretched, move handle in a wide arc) or do I pull close and then shove away while turning?.

(I tried the movement of actually chopping wood -- starting with elbows bent and going to straight while turning -- but that makes no sense at all.)
