injury update

Just wanted to say thanks to all who offered advice. I did go in to see my nurse practitioner Friday (no doctors were available), and she agrees that I have pulled/strained a muscle, though she couldn't pinpoint which one...lower trap, lat or serratus. She prescribed Vicodin, which I've used sparingly, and told me to take the muscle relaxant I already have in the medicine chest (I take it on occasion for bad headaches with neck pain). She said NO LIFTING for two weeks, and then to build back very gradually and not to attempt pull-ups, windmill presses or anything else that stresses this part of my back for 6-8 weeks total. During the initial two weeks I can do any cardio that doesn't hurt. Since it all hurts right now, I'm spending the weekend resting. Mostly. Housework aggravates it too, but the house does need its work.

I had a massage yesterday, and the MT also couldn't find one specific muscle at fault. She did rib springing, and worked gently on the affected muscles. I felt a little better after that. I'm hoping to at least walk on the treadmill tomorrow. No walking outside--every time I slip a little on the ice, I wrench the sore spots as my body rights itself. Ow!

I'm looking forward to the day it goes from repeatedly spasming to just sore. And shopping for workout clothes online, while I wait.
